| Summary, etc. | Critical competence only makes sense in the long term. Prophets used the values of an ideal world to denounce the existing world. The author makes the distinction between two traditions: an academic one, based on Christian neo-Platonism and leading to the illusion theory in which the social world is mere appearance and morality an intelligence driving us on; and the other, based on a series of ethno-methodologies that allow the weak to adapt and mock the failings of the powerful and sometimes use these very failings to overcome power relationships. A conclusion can be drawn from this archaeology: If the critical approach of the ’60s and ’70s is but one aspect of a tradition, the current crisis concerns only this form and new approaches could develop in different circumstances. |
