520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article develops the hypothesis that tourism generates a double “urban revolution ”: the first one is the creation, all around the world since the eighteenth century, of urban places specifically by and for tourism: the tourist resort. The second, from the later twentieth, corresponds to the great importance of recreation in the development of contemporary cities. We therefore first propose a theoretical framework with richer and more complex definitions of “urbanity ” and “urbanization ”. This then allows us to bring together within this framework the different modes of tourist participation in urban contexts with a particular focus on the quality of place.
