520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Of little apparent importance, growing flowers is a good indicator of the way society deals with nature. The movements that link society to nature, like social changes, are reflected in these gardens. In this paper, we trace the path of the flower garden and florists' flowers through the twentieth century. These ornamental flowers mirror the society that produces them and particularly manifest the close tie between nature and the city as flowers become part of the cityscape and counterbalance its effects.
