| Summary, etc. | kass: Research Aims and Research DesignThe eu-funded kass project attempted to answer two over-arching questions: how much do relatives help each other, and why? Theoretically it aimed to widen the welfare-policy agenda by drawing on a range of different anthropological perspectives, including evolutionary cooperation theory. Methodologically it combined ethnographic research with standardised in-depth interviews about kinship networks. The present paper outlines the methodology and explains its theoretical background. |

| Summary, etc. | Zusammenfassung kass : Forschungsziele und ForschungsdesignDas eu-finanzierte Projekt kass unternahm den Versuch, zwei übergreifende Fragen zu beantworten : Wie viel Hilfe leisten Verwandte einander und warum ? Indem es auf eine Reihe verschiedener anthropologischer Perspektiven Bezug nahm, unter anderem auf die der evolutionären Kooperationstheorie, strebte das Projekt auf theoretischer Ebene die Erweiterung der wohlfahrtspolitischen Agenda an. Methodisch verband es ethnographische Forschung mit umfangreichen standardisierten Interviews über Verwandtschaftsnetzwerke. Die vorliegende Beitrag umreißt die Methodologie und erläutert ihren theoretischen Hintergrund. |
