520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Psychoanalytical treatment of a delirious episode following a mutilative surgical intervention : the violent reactions of the patient plunge the medical team into a state of confusion. An indirect approach to the delirium on the part of the analyst in the transference resulted in simultaneously calming the patient and her talking and revealing her history. This was then followed by actual psychoanalytical work. For the analyst it is only after crisis intervention (après-coup) – followed by actual psycho-analytic working-through – that a clinico-theoretical evaluation of the case in both analytical and written form can be made.
