| Summary, etc. | This interview with director Lola Quivoron and actress and co-writer Antonia Buresi is part of my project to bring together personalities from the worlds of culture and art with psychoanalysts, in order to show the creativity and modernity of psychoanalysis, always in tune with contemporary movements. Lola Quivoron directed Rodéo, her first feature film, with actress and co-writer Antonia Buresi. It was released in cinemas in 2022, then on dvd and on platforms in 2023. It competed in the “Un Certain Regard” selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. The film tackles the themes of cross-bitume asphalt and the suburbs, as well as masculinity, femininity and gender: “Julia makes a living from small-time schemes and has a devouring, almost animal-like passion for motorcycling. One summer’s day, she meets a group of bikers devoted to cross-bitume and infiltrates this clandestine milieu, made up mainly of young men. Before an accident undermines her position within the gang…” The issues raised by this film are tackled with great modernity and creativity, and this interview highlights the finesse of the characters and the filmmaking and writing process. |
