520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The Republic of Venice developed a complex electoral procedure from the 13th century onwards, combining random draw, nomination and election, and restricted to the nobility. Approaching the subject through the notions of hybridization and mixing highlights its central role within the Venetian myth of a perfect Republic. In fact it has become an integral part of the myth on three fronts : by the creation of a single caste with access to power, by the formulation of numerous spatial and temporal mechanisms and techniques designed to limit all external influences and by a political discourse that forged Venetian aristocratic identity.
