Summary, etc. The Hospital Johanniter Order, founded in the XIth?century, was in?1939 a rich and wondrous brotherhood with around 4 000?civilian and military aristocrats. The Nazis did not dare to suppress it. In the Second World War, it bore three faces. As a ??Hospital Order??, it did not fail in its mission to ??work on behalf of the sick and for those in need??, and fought relentlessly until the final defeat. As an Order of ??Knights of Christ??, with half of its members soldiers in the Wehrmacht, it gave its official praise to the fight against Bolchevism for the sake of the Christian West. But, unwilling to compromise, the Order was watched by the Nazis, who planned to dissolve it after ??final victory??, especially since some knights engaged in the Resistance against Hitler and died for it. This righteous and patriotic attitude enabled the Order to survive the war.
