520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. As professionals steeped in and guided by a set of moral values, can we justify the use of lying? Can lying be considered a useful strategy when helping people? Based on these questions, as well as our experiences and those shared by many of the professionals we interviewed, we wanted to investigate the paradoxes of lying and transparency in our professions. Lying, in our practices, and ethics, in the broadest sense of the term, were at the heart of our research. As social workers, we work with who we are, with the reality of the field, but also with the laws that govern our practices. This sometimes clashes with our day-to-day activities, which favor closeness when supporting people. Can lying be legitimate?
