| Summary, etc. | The convocation of Simone de Beauvoir in recent feminist works reveals a necessity, that of updating the description of the female condition in order to deal with today’s salient issues: those of violence against women, starting with rape and murder. But, contrary to the current feminist movements, De Beauvoir’s work is not easily applied to the regime of complaint, focusing instead on that of emancipation. While she praises fraternity between men and women, the dimension of sisterhood that is so present in contemporary feminism, as well as questions of motherhood and the couple, are absent from her work. |
