Summary, etc. | Although the issue of the status of women led to numerous debates and geopolitical perceptions, feminist movements are often relegated to the margins of geopolitical analysis. Yet the dismissal of feminists’ demands for universal rights for all human beings had tremendous consequences on major geopolitical events, such as the rise of the political regime in Algeria after independence and the totalitarian religious government in Iran. In France, feminist movements tend to converge on the postcolonial debate. The political role of feminist movements is often underestimated, which tends to feed the perception of Western dominance over the world. |
