520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Self-regulatory and meta-cognitive abilities are crucial when people answer to questions on the Web. This research presents the rationale of a new self-efficacy scale about the ability to search information on the Internet. The sample (N = 169) encompasses four levels of expertise. Self-efficacy increases as a function of expertise and is slightly influenced by normative information. Self-efficacy is a better predictor of anticipated task time (searching the answer to a specific question) than user’s experience with Internet or attitude toward the Internet. The role of self-efficacy for optimal use of the Web as database is discussed.
