Summary, etc. Scientific Translation and Terminology come under a similar empirical scheme. From the point of view of the linguistic doctrine of logical truth, they can be differentiated through the line of demarcation of natural language vs formal language. This paper first analyzes the relationships between translation and terminology theories and the philosophy of language deriving from logical positivism. We then try to specify the relationships between the theories themselves, considering the most representative authors of the logico-ontological model. Finally, the changes of this model inside the functionalist framework are questioned and, in particular, we look at the limitations of the epistemological changes that have occurred since the 1980s. The trend in favour of the translation of terminologies is a case in point, and a textual semantics approach will be proposed as a better alternative.
