520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Today’s context of globalization is characterized by hybridization: in technology, but also in communication and in the intercultural sphere. Communication clearly stands as a structural element in social relationships, whether rooted in dialogue and cooperation or in conflict and contradiction. It is both the driver and the outcome of a Babelized world, despite the efforts deployed by some in terms of opaque translating or artificial cultural cohabitation. The transformations fueled by communication processes and how they relate to each other demand fresh theoretical and epistemological perspectives. We need to look beyond the classic focus of media studies on technology and towards the many forms of intercultural mediation and communicational phenomena that are mutually driving each other’s development.
