Summary, etc. This article analyzes three possible ways in which the media promote uncommunication in Europe: their partial treatment of current affairs, their divergent treatment of information and the way they treat the lack of consensus on current affairs. Drawing on the results of a comparative study on “Europe in the online media,” we demonstrate the existence of the first two and the difficulties that arise in identifying the third in the media corpus. These difficulties could be a sign of the non-existence, in the European media field, of uncommunication as defined by Dominique Wolton, in other words as a means of access to negotiation and better communication.
