Summary, etc. Anxiety generated by the anticipation of a surgical procedure can be preoccupying for the success of the operation and the mental health of the patient. This article addresses a clinical case where psychosocial monitoring is based on the comprehensive care model. During the period of observation, the patient displayed an overwhelming sense of anxiety. In this particular case, the patient’s knowledge was contributing largely to his anxiety. It appeared that in the case of a surgical procedure linked to a serious and/or chronic illness, the “knowledge” of the patient, considered as a nursing “auxiliary” can become a constraining factor that must be factored into the global response. The case studied has paved the way for a comprehensive palliative response in this care solution that respects the patient’s knowledge.
