Summary, etc. Introduction: General practitioner (GP) is a guarantee of success in maintaining a palliative care patient at home. However he may feel that he is facing certain difficulties. Aims: To assess and identify the difficulties in the management of painful patients in palliative care by GPs. Subjects and methods: Descriptive transversal study carried out on a sample drawn from a pool of 63 GPs based in Sfax with an anonymous questionnaire. Results: All GPs interviewed encountered at least one difficulty in their palliative care. Increasing the number of training courses and improving collaboration with hospital referrers were the two main needs declared by 79% of doctors. Conclusion: There is a need to increase awareness and training interventions in palliative care, adapted to the practice of family doctors in cooperation with other professionals and in particular with hospital referrals.
