Summary, etc. Early-onset schizophrenia (EOS) is a recent nosographic entity in child psychiatry, currently defined as a multifactorial brain development disorder. Its etiopathogenesis remains difficult to model, involving genetic and prenatal risk factors, as well as neurodevelopmental deviations. EOS has clinically-specific aspects compared to its adult form, with typically alterations in early development. Furthermore, some symptomatic characteristics require the clinician to look for secondary forms, which are somatic in origin. EOS management should be integrative and include antipsychotic treatment, with regular monitoring for the occurrence of side effects.
