Summary, etc. Background. More than 40 percent of cancers are thought to be linked to our lifestyles and environment. Information is a key step in maintaining good health, yet a significant proportion of the French population still has difficulty accessing it. In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the “Bergo’Bus” cancer prevention van aims to bridge the gap between the healthcare system and the most disadvantaged people in the local community. This outreach scheme relies on close cooperation with local stakeholders. In this way, the Prevention-Public Health Department of the Bergonié Institute promotes the development of targeted actions on different key prevention themes with regard to the specific needs of each locality. Description of the intervention. Once the targeted population and the setting of the intervention have been defined (diagnostic and preparation phase), local stakeholders are contacted to get involved in organizing the “Bergo’Bus” efforts to be rolled out (action phase). These stages are carried out by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, supported by a steering committee. The intervention includes workshops and individual consultations, which can take place inside the vehicle. Preliminary evaluation. The “Bergo’Bus” is a targeted means of reaching those furthest removed from the health care system, supported by an efficient partnership with local stakeholders. During the first twelve “Bergo’Bus” interventions, carried out between May and October 2021, nearly 300 people participated in one of the workshops organized with a health professional and nearly 200 individuals have come to seek health-related information. Future prospects. The next step of this project will consist of assessing the feasibility of a structured follow-up of people participating in the workshops, in close connection with local stakeholders. The development of long-lasting partnerships remains a key strategic element for the future viability of the project.
