| Summary, etc. | Les définitions académiques des fintechs sont basées sur des recherches antérieures ou sur des rapports d’organismes de régulation et de cabinets de conseil. En interrogeant directement 10 acteurs de la fintech et de la banque, cette étude compare la perception des fintechs par les chercheurs avec la réalité vécue par les professionnels interrogés. Notre définition est fortement inspirée de la perception des fondateurs de fintechs. Elle met davantage l’accent sur la notion d’innovation d’usage centrée sur le client (vs innovation technologique) et sur une vision entrepreneuriale des fintechs, plus indépendants des acteurs en place. |

| Summary, etc. | Academic definitions of fintechs are based either on previous research or on reports from regulators and consulting firms. This study breaks new ground by directly interviewing ten actors from the worlds of fintech and banking, and compares the perception that researchers have of fintechs with the lived reality of those interviewed. Our definition of fintech draws heavily on the perception of fintech founders themselves. It puts more emphasis on innovation relating to the use customers make of products (vs. technological innovation) and on an entrepreneurial vision of fintechs, more independent from incumbent market players. |
