520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article uses an explorative definition of the notion of “emerging economies” to study the four most important ones: Brazil, Russia, India, and China. It formulates three conjectures about these economies, illustrated by BRIC, in spite of their diversity: institutional coherence is a precondition to economic emergence; BRIC trajectories have been piloted in real time; and there is no “one best way” for economic emergence.
