| Summary, etc. | This article analyzes the growth of private development initiatives (PDIs) in the Netherlands. The concept of PDI is studied and reinstated under the heading of philanthropic aid. Using data collected on almost 900 PDIs, the characteristics of their founders and members are analyzed. We also address the support provided to developing countries by these initiatives and cast a critical eye on their participation in development cooperation. |
