520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This paper extends the analysis of Bowen and Wu (2013) to postulate that the gender mix of immigrants matters for immigration’s impact on a nation’s pattern of production and trade. Specifically, the higher is the proportion of female (male) immigrants the more likely that immigration and trade will be complements (substitutes). The empirical investigation supports the prediction that female immigration and trade are complementary whereas male immigration and trade are substitutes. These findings have important implications for immigration policy.
