Summary, etc. Since the years 2000, agricultural policies geared towards exports erode the rights granted to native people by the 1988 Brazilian Constitution. The status recognized to the Indians has not evolved since 1973, due to the failure of the projects elaborated to update it. Native political movements have nevertheless thrived and maintain a high degree of conflicts. The reclaiming of indigenous land, agreed by the 1973 status, is slowed down by the slow pace of administrative procedures. Developers attempt to criminalize native people when they claim to have their rights respected, as well as those who support them.
