Summary, etc. | 100 years ago, the futurist form of presentism cultivated by the avant-gardes hoped for bruitism to incorporate urban noises in the art of sound. Today a catastrophist form of presentism orders soothing music to relax survivalist anxieties. Old nursery rimes are offered a second life, reducing music to psychotherapy. But the more relaxing benefits are found in sounds, the less one reflects upon the critical potentials of the perceptual dilatation made possible by musical time. In guise of hope, the paper concludes on a paradoxical hypothesis about libertarian hypnosis. |
