Summary, etc. | Cooperation, co-operations are expressions that state the co-, the “with”, the being-together as a condition for the appearance of sharing a territory and of another democracy. In the first two decades of the new millennium, a profound transformation became noticeable in Brazilian cities: a new desire for public and common space. This desire appeared in the form of a myriad of activist movements for the occupation and appropriation of public spaces from the North to the South of Brazil. We are referring to horizontal, non-hierarchical and self-organized movements of civil society, which came to have great political relevance, such as the movements “Ocupe Estelita” in Recife, “Praia da Estação” in Belo Horizonte, and “A Batata Precisa de Você” in São Paulo. |
