Summary, etc. | It has become urgent for unionism to investigate the consequences of work intensification on activism and views, bearing in mind that work-related health troubles are on the rise. An action-research approach and a training action approach, both initiated by a trade union along with researchers, have emphasized some major developments. Indeed, the workers and unionists’ resistance capacities are being challenged. The variety of individuals and working situations is not being taken into account, the possibilities to achieve quality work are being challenged, and working groups are being shaken. Lastly, work as a means of democratic learning through a “living-together” situation is itself being challenged. A new understanding of the world of work is required in order to resist these trends collectively. Strengthening union work implies resisting “bad work,” which enables elucidating what every worker from every sector experiences. This reasoning is based on the exploration of concrete situations so that a constant movement between the microscopic and the definition of political views can be established. |
