Summary, etc. Suicides in Renault Guyancourt and France Télécom have triggered a new awareness about ill-being on work sites and provoked a debate on psychosocial risks. Different experts have been called on to contribute to this important discussion. Various commissions have been put to work and reports have been written. Based on their findings, various problems, oppositions, and complementarities have been identified that lead to very different proposals. This paper discusses three of these approaches: the report written in 2008 by Patrick Légeron and Philippe Nasse for the Department of Labor (“La détermination, la mesure et le suivi des risques psychosociaux au travail”);  the report of the Commission on Suffering at Work created by J.-F. Copé at the National Assembly in 2009; the report entitled “Bien-être et efficacité au travail – 10 propositions pour améliorer la santé psychologique au travail” presented to the prime minister in February 2010 by Henri Lachmann, Christian Larose, and Muriel Penicaud. These reports are used to compare expert opinions from different milieu and to show how politicians and the experts who work for them view the issue. In conclusion, this paper proposes a few areas for research. The question of psychosocial risks at work must be considered as a global social phenomenon. It puts in perspective four different registers: individual ill-being at work; the organization of management and work; the imaginary and ideological representations that dominate the corporate world; and the social and economic system, particularly the growth of financial capitalism.
