His body of work constitutes in itself an organon so complete that it is exceedingly rare for it to fail to hold either the answer to the problem or at least an important contribution to its solution. I would like to show this heuristic fertility by reporting certain pieces of cryptologic research on Proust, research that would have quickly come to a halt if not for the narratological tools forged by Genette. |
