Summary, etc. The concept of slave labor is regularly used to designate forms of exploitation that are becoming more and more diverse. In Brazil, the term particularly concerns the Bolivian workforce in garment factories, as these migrants are associated with clandestinity, precarity, and exploitation. Through the slave labor case that affected the multinational ZARA in 2011, we will examine the heuristic value of this category in Brazil, whose singularity allows work in clothing manufacturing to be seen only as an experience of domination, and not of emancipation, thus denying the ability of migrants to act.
