Summary, etc. In Haiti, although the government is committed to improving family planning services, single women face considerable challenges in matters of sexual and reproductive rights. Given the context, the objective of this paper was to estimate the level of unmet need for contraception among sexually active single women in Haiti, and to identify and prioritize the factors associated with the non-use of contraception in this population. The paper is based on data from the latest Demographic and Health Survey conducted in Haiti in 2017. Regarding the data analysis, we performed simple frequency tables, crosstabs, and binary logistic regression. The results show that the level of unmet need for contraception among sexually active single women is estimated at 52.9%, which is significantly higher than that of married women (38.0%). It is also observed that age, department of residence, occupation, and standard of living are the determinants of unmet need for contraception among sexually active single women in Haiti. Furthermore, age and department of residence are the factors that contribute most to explaining the phenomenon under study. In order to meet the contraceptive needs of sexually active women in Haiti, governmental authorities should take these factors into account. Above all, the social, economic, and political resources of women, both single and married, should be improved so that they can make their own reproductive decisions and choose whether or not to limit their births, by whatever means they prefer.
