| Summary, etc. | In November 2017, the Saudi leadership prompted Saad Hariri to resign as Prime minister of Lebanon, but in doing so made an error of judgment, thinking that Lebanese Sunnis would hold Iran and Hezbollah responsible for the move. In fact, the Saudi actions were denounced by many Lebanese, irrespective of their religious affiliation. Parliamentary elections are set for May 2018, with pro-Iranian movements expected to strengthen their position. |
