Summary, etc. | Over the past ten years, the conflict between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government has undergone several phases. In the latest one, starting in 2019, the Nigerian armed forces have become entrenched in around 20 supercamps and direct air strikes against the surrounding insurgent factions. Subsequently, the conflict appeared to have reached a stalemate, but probably to the long-term advantage of the insurgents, who are extending their control over territory and the population in the absence of any prospects of a political solution. |
