| Summary, etc. | The process of the “Great National Debate” was invented in December 2018 as a way out of the crisis of the “Yellow Vests” movement. This experience of participatory democracy on a large scale was a world first as it implied about two million citizens who, during two months (from January 15th to March 15th, 2019), discussed and offered perspectives on four main issues listed by the president of the Republic. Beyond the democratic experience as such, the impact of this great debate on French political life have been quite limited. |
