Summary, etc. The author bases this article on the study of a clinical case of psychoanalytical psychotherapy with a young, disabled adult, suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome associated with serious infantile trauma. How can we understand the evolution of early relational trauma that is not necessarily consistent with the classical model of deferred action? Indeed, the logic of deferred action, which usually allows for the remodeling of traumatic experience into fantasies under the effect of repression, is not operational in this case. In the absence of a defensive device such as repression, trauma is subjected to foreclosure, leaving in its wake incomprehensible, hallucinatory perceptive traces. By proposing a clinical set-up that links plastic or graphic creations and verbalization, the idea is to make another narrative form of the subject’s experience possible and to let the therapist immerse him or herself in it, so as to make figuration work possible in order to achieve understanding of the patient’s traumatic experience.
