Summary, etc. In October 2017, the University Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Versailles Hospital Center was commissioned by the Regional Health Agency to be one of the reference centers for the evaluation and care of French children of repatriated jihadist parents in the Île-de-France region. In this article, we describe the specific work we carry out with orphaned children in our center and the complexity of their care: unknown medical history upon arrival, involvement of multiple professionals and institutional partners, intensity of transference-countertransference movements, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and significant psychological distress related to attachment issues… These children are caught in systems of dual parenthood between an initial placement in foster care and a reunion with their extended biological family. In this text, we present our work methods and reflections on the care we can provide to these children within a complex inter-institutional network, while considering the issues of affiliation and filiation of these orphaned children.
