Summary, etc. ‪After having defined what an algorithm is, we propose in this article an overview of the research field of algorithmics. Its evolution has led to add to a prescriptive dimension to the original prescriptive perspective, taking into account the usefulness of algorithms to explain the world around us. We also identify various limits in practice, including the difficulty to formalize some problems in a mathematical language or the inability to explain some algorithms obtained through machine learning methods. We formalize these limitations through the notion of “algorithmic contract”. This article concludes by mentioning the recent research avenues that have appeared in order to limit the biases caused by the misuse of algorithms. Finally, we raise the question of the normative framework of these algorithms, but also that of their regulation.‪
