Summary, etc. | On April 5, 2022, TRT, the Turkish public radio and television network, announced the launch of a French-language channel whose programs would be visible only on social networks. The choice of this broadcasting platform is not a coincidence, as social networks now play a major role in terms of political influence. Thus, while Franco-Turkish diplomatic relations have been extremely tense in recent years, a number of relays are active online to give a positive image of Turkey to a French-speaking public. By analyzing the content of the publications and the iconography of the Facebook pages concerned, the aim of this article is to demonstrate how this digital activism can be analyzed as a tool of influence serving the diplomatic objectives of the current government in Turkey and its head of state, who has been in charge for twenty years. |
