Summary, etc. | Organicist theories of the State are striking due to their diffusion and the diversity of their doctrinal uses. They blossomed particularly at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century through authors from very diverse doctrinal obediences who sometimes had in common only their adherence to organicism. This contribution will be organised in relation to two main questions. First, what allowed the astonishing and broad success of organicism? Second, what precipitated the irremediable decline of organicist theories, and what are the epistemological and ideological reasons why organicism is no longer seriously considered in the understanding of collective entities (e.g., the state)? |
