Summary, etc. | Men and women still do not occupy the same professions. Despite the implementation of numerous programs for gender diversity, this occupational segregation persists. Women still mostly work in the care and education sectors. The most recent data concludes that more than half of women (and men) would have to change occupation in order to achieve gender equality. How could such a “migration” be brought about? Is it really desirable? This article outlines the current segregation, its evolution and its mechanisms. Finally, as an additional approach in favor of wage equality, it proposes a revaluation of those jobs in which women predominate. |
