Summary, etc. Recent history has been marked by migratory tragedies and a rising sense of urgency regarding the hosting and assistance to migrant populations. In this context, the concept of hospitality has come back to the fore of political, public and scientific debates over the last 30 years. Human and social sciences have started to take the study of hospitality into account, while the theme had almost disappeared from academic discussion during the 20th century, after a period of vivid interest during the Enlightenment and the early 19th century. In the various works contributing to this historiographic renewal, and as it was the case in prior modern reflections, references to Ancient Mediterranean hospitality are plentiful, and often crucial to the scientific demonstrations of the authors. Based on a sample of five recent French publications in philosophy, sociology and political science, this paper sheds light on the various ways in which antique hospitality is reminisced by humanities and social sciences in order to deal with contemporary issues.
