Summary, etc. | Ecological concerns have led to an increased awareness of the eminent merits of our planet. However, we forget that this marvel is the fruit of the Cosmos. A powerful philosophical foundation is necessary for ecology: it must free itself from contemporary acosmism. To love our planet is to love the Universe that created it and where it is inserted; to love the physical laws that are everywhere the same and everywhere active, laws that have transformed by stages the initial gaseous ball into this garden populated by creatures of all kinds, including us. The history of the Universe, from the moment zero, is a prodigious narrative. The human being has an irrepressible need to refer to that which is beyond him and which he admires. A cosmophilia, educated by science, is essential. |
