Summary, etc. | BOUNDARIES AND BONDS Mapping the private and professional lives of mobile workers The concept of mobility is often associated with the image of an increasing interpenetration of social times and places. Mobility at work, in addition to the development of NICT, is said to lead to a growing overlap between the private and professional spheres. This article shows that despite the shifting boundaries of these spheres, individuals and households continue to develop intense activity to maintain them and to build stable relations both at work and between their professional and private lives. NICTs are used by individuals both to connect and to isolate themselves, at certain times, on certain occasions or in certain places. In this respect, the authors review the most common situations and the way in which they are constructed, negotiated and maintained. |
