Summary, etc. | In what way does technology threaten us? Answers to this question seem to oppose Catholic authors nourished by natural theology with the thought of Jacques Ellul, whose work entirely rejects natural theology. For the former, technology threatens a human nature ordered by natural law, while the second regards technology as a threat to human freedom. Moving beyond this initial difficulty, one notes how the work of both Jacques Ellul and his now-forgotten Protestant contemporary André Dumas reveal that the human capacity to control and direct natural life invites us to pass from bioethics to an ethic of biodiversity in which each living being must find its habitat and living beings collectively move to coexistence. |
