Summary, etc. | With less than 7,000 patients in 1987 and over 44,000 in 2010 an increase in the development of outpatient care has been observed in the area of child psychiatry, as demonstrated by the growth of services offered by the SESSAD (a specialized home education and healthcare service). The example of a SESSAD operating in Moselle has been chosen for its original approach. It will provide insight into the missions carried out by these structures in the medical and welfare sector and the tensions caused by the increase in the number of participants and the role played by the ARS in laying down guidelines for their activity, combining demand for innovation and call for standardization. For parents of autistic children, a SESSAD is only one of many stages and just one partner among many. Indeed, “one-off” services bringing several structures into play can often be a source of worry, uncertainty and organizational problems. Under what conditions can SESSAD be seen as a driver for innovation, guaranteeing true inclusion in the educational system, providing support and assistance to parents and teachers alike ? Ethnographic observations and interviews with parents and SESSAD professionals were carried out in Moselle to explore this type of question. |
