Summary, etc. | The liberated company is now recognized as a radically innovative management model. Based on a narrative synthesis combining recent systematic literature reviews with an analysis of empirical research focusing on the darker sides of the liberated company, this article provides an overview of the model’s critical issues. We highlight liberated companies’ five most recurrent pitfalls in practice: instrumentalization of humanistic promises, leader entrenchment, regulation struggles, hyper-reflexivity, and elitism. We sketch out avenues for research to collectively overcome the limitations of the liberated company model. |
