Summary, etc. | Freud's theory never ceased to develop between two poles of reference. He never abandoned the point of view of an organic individuality in which the ? life of the soul ? was intrinsically rooted, whilst also conceiving of the latter's development in terms of primary interactions. This leads us today to consider more specifically the relation between the two, that is to say, between individual narcissism and relational subjectivisation. A comparative and critical consideration of two texts written within a year of each other?: ? An introduction to narcissism ? (1914) and ? Drives and their vicissitudes ? (1915) helps us to better understand this theoretical relationship beyond its apparent contradictions. The narcissism-subjectivisation binary indeed reveals itself to be extremely useful in conceptualising the preliminary registers of the transference, together with the ? serious problems of subjectivisation ? (narcissistic and behavioural pathologies) with which we are often confronted. |
