520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. When a psychoanalyst considers writing a text for publication based on material from an analytic treatment experienced with one of his patients, he must show extreme caution, for he will draw some elements from his analysand's private life that may enable the latter to recognise himself in the published case description or enable third parties to identify a member of their family or a friend or colleague, which may be felt as a betrayal of his trust. In the eyes of the law, the patient will have suffered an attack on his privacy combined with a breach of the professional secrecy that is absolutely binding for the psychoanalyst, who may then be condemned. The author of this kind of publication must therefore take precautions to prevent any identification of the analysand whose history is related.
