Summary, etc. The après-coup is a major concept in the dynamic structure of mental functioning. It is based on the notion of the permanent reshaping of memory traces and their traumatic value. The translation model conceptually links successive après-coup to new retranscriptions of psychic material. The non translated becomes the source of a traumatic state due to the lack of new retranscriptions. It is this clinic of the negative that we find in psychosomatic organizations. The absence of reworking in the psychic process deprives mental functioning of its qualitative diversity, but the principle of energetic equivalence establishes a law of quantitative constancy between the psychic and somatic elements of the psychosomatic unit.
