520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The current SPS agreement allows for limited consideration of food safety requirements. The room for maneuver of states is relatively restricted, in particular because of the central place conferred to scientific justification when evaluating the validity of food safety measures. However, in the future, a new balance could be found between the requirements of food safety and those of free trade, in particular by reconsidering the role of science in the SPS agreement.
